Zimbra on Debian Etch

Ahhh aku dah demam!!!!

Asik2 etch tak pun lenny tak pun sid… ni member aku punya pasal lah sampai aku terpaksa tinggal slackware…..

dia ajar aku main debian… ;p thanks for that..


I have tets zimbra using debian etch rc4.0, (memang cun) and running under vware server 512 ram and 20 Gb space. nice and stabale for now. ;p

this i will share about installing Zimbra under debian.

step 1 :

must ins tall package that needed by ZIMBRA

aptitude install sudo libidn11 fetchmail libgmp3c2 libxml2 libstdc++6 openssl libltdl3

make sure you install curl and libexpat to avoid error when install

aptitude install curl libexpat1 libpcre3

Download & untar

Download Zimbra package

cd /downloads <———————– use your own folder ( i always use folder downloads ) or /tmp

wget http://h.yimg.com/lo/downloads/5.0.13_GA/zcs-5.0.13_GA_2791.DEBIAN4.0.20090206132505.tgz

tar zxvf zcs-5.0.13_GA_2791.DEBIAN4.0.20090206132505.tgz

cd /downloads/zcs-5.0.13_GA_2791.DEBIAN4.0.20090206132505


During the installation if you hostname doesn’t have mx records you
need to enter a domain name that does.

After all packages have been
installed you have the ability to set your adminstrator password.

This is also the moment you can change several configuration values of

TO continue with the installation and configuration of zimbra
you need to press A and enter. This could take a few minutes or even 10
minutes it depends on the speed of your system.


To see if everything works you can use, you need to be as zimbra user, there for you need to do:

su - zimbra

To check if everything is up and running:

zmcontrol status

To go to the web mail you need to go to http://yourzimbraserver

The admin section can be found here https://yourzimbraserver:7071/zimbraAdmin
